If we want to find all the things wrong with everything, everyone, and even ourselves we would be very successful. We would find an alarming amount of problems, dangers, and negativity. What if we went forward with the opposite objective…to find the positives? I bet you would be just as successful.
It is part of human nature to find the dangers, the things that can harm us, and fix or avoid them. Its what’s kept us alive as a species all these years. We naturally tend to look for the bad.
To start making the shift into positive thinking you must become a miner, mining for the silver linings. No matter the time, place, or situation, look for the good. Trust me there is always something, it is a lesson, an opportunity, or even just feedback for an adjustment you can make on your end. Every situation has a bit of silver in it, but you must look.
Shifting your perspective allows you to notice how most people are inherently good and have the best of intentions and that there is an unlimited amount of opportunity and abundance all around you.
I’m not saying you should be blind to the dangers around you. No, what I am saying is be aware of the dangers and negativity around you but don’t over-inflate them and don’t focus needlessly on them. Spend your time and energy looking for all the good.
Smile and laugh more. Drop your shoulders, relax your jaw, soften your gaze. Strike up conversations with others standing in line with you at the store. Smile and greet people passing by on the street. Be polite, gentle, and gracious. Remind yourself of all the things you are grateful for. Trust me there are many things to be grateful for.
These characteristics are not a weakness but rather a sign of true strength and Zen. It takes personal power to go against human nature and find the good and positive. It’s worth it because in just a short amount of time it will become second nature and your mind will start writing new neural pathways for inner peace and happiness that overwrite old self-defeating negativity. Anxiousness and stress melt away, not because the world is different but rather because your perspective of your world has changed.
We can’t change or control the people, situations, and circumstances around us, but we can change and control how we react to them and how we perceive them. That’s our true power, our true gift. Mastery of that is mastery of self. The pinnacle of life.
Positive thinking coupled with good nutrition will change the mind, body, soul trifecta into something truly wonderful as you change energetically on a cellular level...dare I say a “soulular level?
Opening this part of us and exercising it daily is a bit of a third eye prescription change and takes you to the next level in humanity. Money can’t buy happiness and it can’t buy inner peace so practice something that money can’t buy and be the example to those around you.
Day by day do a little more, look for more of the good, be more of the good. Even if it is 1% better than the day before. Now 1% may seem small but think of where you would be if you added up that same percentage of change in just 100 days. How about 200? How about 365 days? Think about the changes you would see in the relationships around you, your friends, family, coworkers. Think about how you would see yourself in the mirror or think about how others around you would see you differently. Powerful stuff indeed.
Start today, just priming that positivity, a little more, a little more. See where it takes you, see how it changes you, see how it changes everything.
