Recently I attended a 6-day intensive training on Heart Centered Hypnotherapy. Since I have met my husband, Kevin he has talked about wanting to get trained in hypnosis and I honestly never really gave it much thought for myself. Since being in private practice, I have considered different treatment modalities that I wanted to get trained in to include in my tool box to help my clients heal.
I had been meditating on this and deciding what to do next and one morning, I woke up and said I am going to get trained in hypnotherapy. I did an extensive search to find training opportunities in NY and found one on heart centered hypnotherapy that the Wellness Institute was hosting in March in Queens. I did as much research as I could on this model, contacted someone who did a review of the training and spoke to her for about 45 minutes and then made my decision. I was going to trust my intuition and sign up for this training. When I shared with Kevin my decision- his response “Well it’s about time”.
I had no idea how this training was going to change my life personally and professionally. I had the pleasure of being in a training with 22 other therapists, nurses and healers. We went into that training as strangers and ended up as part of the Wellness Institute Family.
During this training we had the opportunity to practice on each other and I had the opportunity to be the client for two sessions. I experienced more healing and did more work in those two sessions than I have done in many years of traditional talk therapy. As one of my classmates said it is “’therapy on steroids”.
I honestly had no idea what to expect from the sessions and I was bit nervous about them, but they were life changing. Since you are tapping into your subconscious mind through hypnosis, it goes to the events in your life that need the healing. I believed that one significant event I had made tremendous progress on and didn’t think would come up and it did and there was a great deal of healing to be done.
I also was fortunate to do some healing work on my TMJ and to identify the cause of this jaw pain that I have had for the last 10 years. I am grateful for the work that was done and to be pain free in my jaw since that session.
What is heart centered hypnotherapy? Heart centered hypnotherapy was developed over 35 years ago by Diane Zimberoff, LMFR and continues to evolve. It has been found to successfully treat addictions (substance and behavioral), grief and loss, trauma, phobias, self-sabotaging behaviors, anxiety, weight issues and relationship issues. It is a form of psychotherapy that utilizes hypnosis as a way to tap into the subconscious mind of the client and allows the client to go to the source of the unresolved experiences and self-sabotaging patterns of behavior and release it from the body and move towards healing.
What I enjoyed the most about this model was that the basis is on the heart-center of the client and reaches into the heart, mind and soul of the client. I am very grateful that I have been trained in this modality and excited to begin to incorporate it into my therapy practice.
